Holiday already?

Apparently today was a national holiday in Singapore so I got the day off.  It gave me some time to get over my jetlag but it might still take a few more days.  I had a lot of errands to run today so it was actually a good thing that I had time off.  The subway system here only accepts cash and the bank ATM near my apartment malfunctioned so my quest for another Citibank ATM took me here today:

No I didn't go over to that island...that's a trip for another day.  This is the view from the mall (a 5 story mall with 4 wings!) that had the Citibank branch.  Maybe it was because it was a holiday but the mall was jam packed with people and at times it was hard to move around.  Like Black Friday hard to move around.  The mall was so large that there were 2 food courts.  Getting a table here took some luck:

Clearly the toughest thing was to decide what to eat!  Elsewhere in the mall, I had to of course, visit a pharmacy to see what retail is like over here:

The pharmacy is actually a very small counter with a glass case of medicines staffed only by 1 pharmacist.  She was helping a customer find a Neti pot nasal rinse so I didn't bother her, but it seems almost nothing is over the counter here.  The only things I were able to find were Panadol (aka Tylenol) plus various combinations with it, and Zyrtec.  Ironically, combination products with pseudoephedrine are available OTC - you don't need to ask a pharmacist to get it for you.

The last stop here was a store called Candy Empire.  Over the past few years, I've been on a quest to find Milk Tea flavored Kit Kats and with a name like that, I expected to find great things.  Well it was pretty underwhelming.  There were a lot of candies and chocolates from Europe but not much from Japan or other parts of Asia.  The "newest" imports were from the US and were outrageously priced:

Seriously?!  $11.50 for a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch?  Pass.
